Portal Login & Password Recovery

How B2B customers access the wholesale portal, log in, and recover forgotten passwords.

Accessing the Wholesale Portal

The BulklyCart wholesale portal is embedded directly within your Shopify storefront using Shopify's App Proxy feature. This means your B2B customers access the portal through your regular store domain — they never have to visit a separate website.

Portal URL Structure

Your wholesale portal is available at a URL like:

https://your-store.myshopify.com/apps/wholesale-portal

This URL is automatically configured during installation. You can add this link to your store's navigation menu, footer, or share it directly with wholesale customers so they can easily find the portal.

Logging Into the Portal

The login process is simple and secure:

  1. The buyer visits your portal URL.
  2. They see a branded login page with your store's logo and custom messaging.
  3. They enter their email address and password (set during registration or provided by you during approval).
  4. Click Log In.

What Happens Behind the Scenes

When a buyer clicks Log In, BulklyCart performs several validation steps:

  • Email verification — The system checks that the email belongs to an active portal customer account.
  • Shopify customer check — BulklyCart verifies via Shopify's system that the corresponding Shopify customer exists and has the wholesale tag.
  • Password validation — The entered password is checked against the securely stored, encrypted password.
  • Session creation — Once authenticated, a secure portal session token is created and signed. This token keeps the buyer logged in as they navigate through the portal.

If any of these checks fail, the buyer sees a friendly error message asking them to check their credentials and try again.

Forgot Password Flow

If a buyer forgets their password, they can reset it themselves without contacting you. Here's the step-by-step process:

Step 1: Click "Forgot Password"

On the portal login page, the buyer clicks the "Forgot Password?" link below the login form.

Step 2: Enter Email Address

They're taken to the password recovery page where they enter the email address associated with their wholesale account and click Send Reset Link.

Step 3: Receive the Reset Email

BulklyCart sends an email containing a secure password reset link. This link is valid for 60 minutes — after that, it expires and they'll need to request a new one.

Step 4: Click the Reset Link

The buyer clicks the link in the email, which takes them to the portal's password reset page.

Step 5: Set a New Password

On the reset page, the buyer enters their new password and confirms it by typing it again. The password must be at least 6 characters long.

Once they click Reset Password, their password is updated immediately and they can log in with the new credentials.

Important Notes About Password Reset

  • The reset link is single-use — once clicked in, it cannot be used again
  • The link expires after 60 minutes for security
  • If the buyer doesn't receive the email, advise them to check their spam/junk folder
  • As a merchant, you can also manually reset a customer's password from the admin panel if needed

Portal Registration (From the Portal Side)

In addition to your public registration forms, buyers can also register for a wholesale account directly from the portal login page. If you've enabled this option, a "Register" or "Apply for an Account" link appears on the login page.

When a buyer clicks this link, they're taken to a registration form within the portal interface. The form collects the same information as your public registration forms, and submissions go through the same approval workflow — appearing in your Submissions list for review.

Registration Success Page

After a buyer submits their registration through the portal, they see a success page confirming that their application has been received. This page typically includes a message like:

"Thank you for applying! We'll review your application and get back to you within 24-48 hours."

This sets clear expectations and prevents buyers from wondering if their submission went through.
