Introduction to Multi-Currency

Serving international wholesale buyers is highly effective when they can view catalog pricing, place quick orders, and receive invoices in their local currency. BulklyCart allows you to activate multiple currencies, establish exchange rates, and enable a buyer-facing currency switcher in the portal.

BulklyCart automatically syncs with Shopify Markets multi-currency settings, ensuring that wholesale cart checkouts integrate seamlessly with your Shopify checkout settings.

Setting Up Currencies

  1. Open BulklyCart in your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Portal Pages in the left sidebar menu.
  3. Scroll down to the Currency Management card and click Manage currencies.

Managing Your Currencies List

Base Currency

Your store's default base currency (e.g., USD, EUR, CAD) is automatically determined from your Shopify settings. The base currency is permanently active, has an exchange rate locked at 1.0, and cannot be deactivated or deleted.

Adding a Conversion Currency

To enable a new currency for wholesale buyers:

  1. In the Currency Management page, click Add Currency.
  2. Enter the ISO 3-Letter Currency Code (e.g., GBP, EUR, AUD).
  3. Enter the Display Name (e.g., British Pound) and the Currency Symbol (e.g., £).
  4. Click Save.

Once added, the currency is activated immediately and the exchange rate defaults to 1.0 until refreshed or updated.

Activating, Deactivating, and Deleting Currencies

  • Deactivate: Click the status toggle next to an active currency. This hides it from the wholesale portal currency switcher without deleting its configuration.
  • Delete: Click Remove (trash icon) to delete a currency entirely from the list. (Base currency cannot be deleted).

Wholesale Portal Buyer Experience

When multiple currencies are active, buyers see a currency selector dropdown in the portal navigation bar or footer. Selecting a currency applies the exchange rate conversion across the entire portal catalog, product details, quick order forms, and cart totals. The selected currency is saved in a secure cookie to persist across visits.
